The foot wood of duck likes warm, humid and semi sunny environment, and the suitable growth temperature is 16-27 ℃. 21-27 ℃ from March to September and 16-21 ℃ from September to march of the next year. It can still grow normally under high temperature above 30 ℃. The temperature in winter shall not be lower than 5 ℃. If the temperature is below 0 ℃, the plant will be frozen and fall leaves will appear, but if the stem is intact, new leaves will sprout again in the next spring.
Duck feet are wet and afraid of drying. Under the condition of high air humidity and sufficient soil moisture, the stem and leaf grow luxuriantly. But too much water will cause waterlogging and rotten roots.
It can grow in all day, half day or half shade environment. However, when the light intensity is low, the color of leaves is light, and when the light is low, the color of leaves is green. Under the bright light, the variegated species are more colorful.
The best soil is sandy loam which is fertile, loose and well drained. The family potted soil is a mixture of peat soil, rotten leaf soil and coarse sand.
