When potting, good ventilation of the culture medium is required. Usually, fern or Osmunda root is used to mix the potting medium.
The prepared roots are dried in the air, cut into small segments about 5cm long, and then put into peat or saprophytic soil, and then fully mixed with coarse sand or perlite to make the final potted substrate.
If ordinary basin is used to make Phalaenopsis bonsai, porous basin is the best choice, shallow basin can effectively ensure the permeability, and the basin whose height is less than the basin diameter is better.
You can also select wooden or metal basket to cultivate, and tie the plant to the branch or the stem of the tree fern.
Generally, the half pot of broken tiles can be put into the flowerpot to improve the drainage performance. If the basket is selected, the thin peat moss should be laid on the bottom of the basket to prevent the basin soil from losing from the gap of the wood bar or mesh.
Phalaenopsis is best to change pots once a year. The best time is when the root system of the plant grows again (usually in spring).
Do not water the plant immediately no matter whether it is in the basin or in another basin. In the first three or four weeks, spray water to the leaves once a day.
The stable warm and humid environment is the best for the growth of Phalaenopsis. The best temperature is 25-28 ℃ in the daytime and 18-20 ℃ in the night.
It should be noted that Phalaenopsis has poor resistance to low temperature and stops growing when the environment temperature is lower than 15 ℃ for a long time.
Generally, the environment of Phalaenopsis cultivation needs to maintain 70-80% humidity throughout the year. Spray the water on the leaf surface every day. The best way to spray is to keep the water droplets on the leaves. If the water droplets remain overnight, the spots will appear black.
The cultivation of Phalaenopsis should keep good ventilation to avoid the sultry environment, and the poor ventilation is easy to cause the plant to rot. In addition, moderate light is needed throughout the year, but direct light should be avoided.
