If you want to give more living space to plants, changing pots is not omnipotent. There are two sides to changing pots. If you don't understand, it's easy to hurt plants.
Benefits of basin change: plants can be transferred to a new environment for growth through basin change, with greater living space and more nutrients, which can promote it; that is why most plants grow better after basin change.
Risk of basin change: any plant, as long as it is replaced by roots and soil, needs to slow down its seedlings again to adapt to the new environment. It is useless to grow well before, and needs to come back again. After basin change, if the external conditions are not suitable, such as high temperature and cold, it will affect its survival, or even directly cause it to die.
It is most suitable for spring and autumn; if it is a dormant "winter type" plant in summer, it is also suitable for winter.
But in any case, never give it a basin change in the high temperature period of midsummer. After the basin change, the high temperature will not only affect the slow seedling, but also make it die faster.
It is most suitable for dormancy stage and early growth stage. The two stages of basin change have little effect on plant growth.
It is not suitable to change pots in the vigorous growth period, bud period, flowering period and fruiting period of plants. If the pots are changed in this period, the growth will be affected slightly and the plants that should be flowering will miss the growth period. The consequences are very serious.
For the plants in the slow seedling stage, do not change them, because the flower root is damaged originally. If you change it again at this time, it will cause secondary damage and prolong the slow seedling stage indefinitely (those that can be recovered in the next few days will be delayed to more than ten days or longer). If the basin changing season is not appropriate, you may even hang up directly in the midsummer season.
More soil. When changing pots, the roots of plants should take more soil and avoid bare roots as much as possible. This is because transplanting with soil is easier to survive than transplanting with bare roots.
No harm to the roots. When changing pots, if the original flowerpot is a soft plastic basin (or paper cup), it is recommended to cut it, so as not to hurt the plant root system.
Do not change frequently. Do not change the basin continuously in a short period of time. For general plants, the interval between two basin changes should be at least half a year or even longer. However, for plants in seedling cultivation, there are special circumstances. Depending on the growth of the seedlings, you can change them once they grow up, which can be changed frequently.
Stop the water first. Water should be stopped 3-5 days before basin change. Too humid environment is not conducive to basin change.
