The leaves of Perilla are broad ovate or round, about 7 to 13 cm long and 4.5 to 10 cm wide. The apex of the leaves is short and sharp, the base is round or wide wedge, the edge is rough serrated above the base, the leaves are membranous or herbaceous, both sides are green or purple, and the petiole is 3 to 5 cm long.
The flowers of Perilla are round umbels, growing about 1.5 to 15 cm, densely villous, bracts are wide oval or nearly round, length and width are about 4 mm, pedicels grow about 1.5 mm, densely villous, calyx is bell shaped, growing about 3 mm, corolla is white or purplish red, growing about 3 to 4 mm, corolla tube is very short, growing about 2 to 2.5 mm
