Common propagation methods include cutting, layering and sowing. Cutting: cutting the branches with buds, cutting in the soil. Layering: select the branches close to the end, peel them between 2-3 small nodes, the thickness is one quarter of the stem; after applying rooting agent, wrap them with water moss, cover with fresh-keeping film; wrap the container with tin foil paper to avoid light transmission, and take root and plant in February to April. Sowing: select the finer soil, mix the seeds with a small amount of sand, and then sow them, germinate about 1 month.

cuttage

This is the most commonly used method of pitcher plant, as long as cutting the branches with bud points, directly cutting in the new soil can be. In cutting branches, 2-3 bud points and 1-2 leaves should be reserved.

Air banding

this is a relatively safe breeding method. For the pitcher plant with low success rate of cutting, the method of pressing can be used.

✔ select a branch close to the end and peel it between 2-3 internodes with a thickness of one quarter of the stem.

✔ apply a layer of rooting agent and bactericide on the peeling place, cover with a layer of water moss with a thickness of more than 5cm, and then cover with a fresh-keeping film.

✔ it can only take root in the dark environment when it is pressed and propagated. Therefore, the container should be wrapped with a layer of tin foil to avoid light transmission.

✔ after packing, the roots will not grow for about 2-4 months. During this period, always open the tinfoil for inspection, so as not to damage the new root. Keep the soil moist and grow roots before planting!

Tissue culture

Go to the florist's shop to buy a special culture medium, which is usually cultivated in March to June. It will grow in about 20 days.

Sexual reproduction

Sexual reproduction is seeded, but not easy.

Seed preservation

The seeds of pitcher plant are not well preserved. Some people store them in the refrigerator (4 ℃), but the low temperature will accelerate the death of the seeds, which can only be preserved for a few weeks, so the seeds after harvest should be planted in time.

Sowing

✔ the seeds of pitcher plant are very small, so the soil is the best choice. During sowing, the seeds are mixed with a small amount of sand, which is directly sprinkled into the soil.

After planting, keep the air humidity, cover the basin mouth with plastic film and poke several small holes.

✔ put the basin in the sun and properly block the light. A light spot helps to germinate.
