The propagation methods of Forsythia suspensa are strip method, cut method and branch method. The pressing method is to press down the drooping paper strips in spring and bury them in the soil, cut them off and plant them in the next spring; the cutting method is to select robust branches and cut them into cuttings in spring and insert them into the soil for planting. The method of dividing plants is to separate the plants and plant pigs before germination in spring.

Layering method

In spring, the drooping strips of paper are lowered and buried in the soil. In the next spring, they are cut off and planted.

Generally, cutting propagation is the main method, and fertile soil with good drainage shall be selected as the basin soil. After cutting, the flowerpot shall be placed in the sunny place.

It is necessary to cut off dead branches, weak branches and over dense and over old branches after flowering every year, and pay attention to fertilization in the rhizosphere.

Cuttings method

Cutting can be carried out after autumn leaves fall or before spring germination, but it is best in spring. Generally, cutting in the south is more than that in the early spring, and cutting in the north is more in summer.

Select the 1-2-year-old strong branches in advance and cut them into 20-30cm long cuttings. The upper part of the cuttings should be 0.8cm away from the first section. The cuttings should preferably have 2 or 3 sections, and the lower part should be cut into a plane near the section.

Put the cuttings about 1-2cm at the base of cuttings in 500ppmabt rooting powder or 500-1000ppm IBA solution for 10 seconds, take them out and dry them.

When cuttings are inserted, they should be inserted obliquely. The depth of the cuttings is about 18-20cm. The top section of the branches should be exposed to the ground, and then the soil should be buried and compacted.

When the weather is dry, water it often to keep the soil moist, but not too wet, otherwise the part of the cuttings into the soil will be black and rotten.

Under normal management, the rate of cutting seedling can be as high as 90%. Strengthen the field management, the height of seedlings after autumn can be more than 50 cm, and can be dug and planted in the next spring.

Layering

Ramet method

Ramets are usually after frost or before spring germination.

The young strips from the side of trees over three years shall be planed out with soil for transplanting, or the whole plant shall be planed out for transplanting by plants.

Generally, a plant can be divided into 3-5 plants, but when cutting roots, it is necessary to make each plant with a little fibrous roots, which will improve the survival rate.
