Calendula is usually sown in late September. Before sowing, the soil should be disinfected and exposed to the sun for a few days. There are no diseases and pests, which is more conducive to the growth of Calendula.
Before planting, the seeds should be soaked in warm water for 3-10 hours, until the seeds absorb water and expand. For some very common seeds that are easy to germinate, this operation can be omitted, but in order to improve the germination rate of calendula, it can be properly soaked.
For the small seeds that are difficult to hold by hand or other tools, one end of the toothpick can be moistened with water, and the seeds can be stuck on the surface of the substrate one by one, covering the substrate 1 cm thick.
Then put the seeded flowerpot into the water, the depth of the water is 1 /2-2 /3 of the height of the flowerpot, let the water slowly soak up, so as not to wash up the seeds.
After sowing in autumn, the flower pot can be packed with plastic bags to keep warm and moisture. After the seedlings are unearthed, the film should be uncovered. Before 9:00 or after 3:00 in the morning, the seedlings should be exposed to sunlight, otherwise the growth of the seedlings will be very weak.
After the seeds are fully emerged, the seedlings can be properly inter seeded so that there is a certain distance between each plant, and the seedlings with poor growth can be pulled out. When most of the seedlings grow more than three leaves, they can be planted in pots.
