Water content: strictly control the water. The high temperature and humidity of the soil environment will make the roots not breathe enough air and grow badly. Pot soil: choose the soil with good drainage and the flowerpot with high permeability, and choose the turf soil, garden soil and sand in the proportion of 4:4:2. Upper pot: put the small seedlings in the pot, and breed in the shade after filling.

Potted management

Lavender is a perennial semi lignified herb. Generally, it is best to cultivate in the areas with high terrain, dry, good drainage and convenient irrigation.

Lavender has strict requirements on soil drainage. The continuous high temperature and humidity of soil environment will make the root not enough air to breathe and grow badly, and even the whole plant will die suddenly.

When lavender is potted, in order to prevent the soil from getting too wet, a plain burning basin (clay basin) with good drainage and air permeability and low price is selected for production. For large-scale production, a ceramic basin or a smaller plastic basin can also be selected to avoid loss of water control, which is not conducive to the growth of lavender, and it is not suitable to use a large basin. When Lavender grows to a large scale, it is suitable to use a large container for cultivation.

Preparation of culture soil

Lavender potted culture soil is required to be loose, with good water permeability, water and fertilizer conservation, fertile, weak alkaline soil, and free from the breeding and mixing of harmful microorganisms and other harmful substances.

When lavender is used to prepare culture soil, it is forbidden to use acid soil. Turf soil, garden soil and sand soil can be used to prepare nutrient soil in the proportion of 4:4:2, or compost soil, plant ash, etc.

Upper basin

The selected flowerpot shall be treated. If the newly burnt clay pot is used, it must be soaked and annealed first. Before using the old basin, it must be disinfected first to eliminate pathogenic bacteria and eggs before using.

Select a properly treated flowerpot, cover the drain hole at the bottom of the flowerpot with a piece of broken basin piece, with the concave side downward, then fill in a layer of drainage (broken basin piece, sand, etc.), and then fill in a layer of culture soil. Take the seedling with your left hand and put it in a proper position in the basin, fill the culture soil around the root of the seedling, press it tightly with your hand, and then use the watering can to fully water it, place it in the shade for a few days, and gradually put it in the place with sufficient light.

Change Basin

Why change Basin

With the growing of plants in the basin, it is necessary to change the larger basin continuously, supplement and update nutrients for the continuous growth and development of lavender.

When changing pots, prune the diseased roots to promote the growth of new roots. In seedling stage, the number of basin changes is more, once a year, and then once every 2-3 years.

In order to control the disease, the root system should be damaged as little as possible, and the time of changing basin should be after flowering and withering.

How to change Basin

Separate the left finger, place it at the base of the plant on the basin surface, lift the basin upside down, and gently buckle the edge of the basin with the right hand before taking out the soil ball.

Do not break the soil ball, cut off a part of the soil ball properly, then fill some culture soil in the bottom of the basin, place the soil ball in the center, fill the soil, and finally press down slightly.

After basin change, the first time should be fully irrigated to make the root system closely connected with the soil, and then keep the soil moist, but the water should not be too much.

As the root system is injured after basin change, absorption is reduced, otherwise the root injury will rot. In the first few days after basin change, the seedlings should be placed in the shade to slow down.
