Goldfish grass likes light, can withstand half shade, likes cool in summer, and avoids hot, so it should be properly sunshaded and cooled in summer. It is suitable for planting in loose and fertile soil with good drainage. In order to make the flowers colorful, we should put the goldfish grass in a cool environment and ensure its sufficient light.
After planting, more topdressing is needed. Generally, the fertilizer can be applied every ten days or so in the growth period, and the mixed fertilizer containing helium and potassium with concentration of about 0.01% can be applied. Because goldfish grass has rhizobia and nitrogen fixation function, it generally does not need to apply nitrogen fertilizer, but some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Loosen soil and weed before each fertilization. During the growth period of goldfish grass, the fermented oil residue water can be applied every 15 days or so in combination with watering. When flower bud appears, it can spray 1.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, which is good for bright color.
It is necessary to loosen the basin soil frequently, and the watering amount should be reasonable. In winter, the watering should be controlled, so that the goldfish grass plants can grow healthily and the flowers are colorful. At the seedling stage of goldfish grass, there are many saprophytic diseases, which can be controlled by spraying Bordeaux solution.
After the seedlings grow to about 10 cm, they can be removed, which can not only increase the number of lateral branches, promote more flowering, but also facilitate the dwarfing of plants. Pruning is mainly to remove diseased branches, old and withered branches, over dense branches, etc. In addition, after flowering, it is necessary to cut off the flowers and the branches that have been flowering, so as to promote the germination of new branches and extend the flowering period.
