Plants spend a lot of nutrients when they bloom, and the growth of flowering stems will also consume nutrients in time. Therefore, when the Rhododendron has to wither and has no ornamental value, it is necessary to cut off the flowers and branches together in time, so as to save nutrients and promote the growth and growth of seed balls.
If there are more leaves and they have begun to wither, some withered leaves can also be cut off properly at this time, but they can not be pruned too much, so as to avoid too few branches and affect the accumulation of nutrients in the seed ball.
After cutting off the flower branches, the parts on the ground will gradually weaken and wither. It is better to leave them aside and let them wither. The protection of the seed ball should be done well when the ground part is withered. There are two methods: the first one is to live through the winter directly in the original basin, and the winter solstice temperature is about 10 ℃ in the shade. The second one is to dig out the seed ball, wrap it in a newspaper, and put it in a dry and ventilated environment for maintenance.
During the period of keeping the ball, check the condition of the ball once a week to avoid rotten roots or other bad phenomena. Wait until the temperature picks up in spring and plant again.
Take out the preserved seed ball, cut off the rotten and blackened part, dry the wound in the shade, and then apply a layer of plant ash to prevent rotten roots.
Choose the flowerpot and soil. It's better not to use the old soil of last year completely. However, the bottom of the flowerpot is padded with a layer of large particles of stone as the drainage material, and then replace with 1 /3 of the new soil. After disinfection, the seed ball is planted.
After planting the seed ball, maintain it in the shade for a week, make it adapt to the new environment, and then pour the root setting water once, and maintain it normally.
