In fact, the vigorous growth of Lingjian lotus does not mean that there will be more flowers, but as long as we pay attention to a few small details in the maintenance process, the vigorous Lingjian lotus will produce more flowers.
Lingjian lotus likes the climate of high temperature and humidity. It needs enough light all the year round, and it can endure drought, especially in summer, which is one of the important conditions for its multiple buds. Spring and Autumn Festival can be put in the outdoor sunny place for maintenance, while summer needs to be put in the indoor place where there is scattered light for maintenance, but attention must be paid to open the window frequently to make the air circulate.
In the budding stage, the new lateral buds on the abnormal stems, the new buds and part of the flower buds on the base should be removed in time, so that the nutrients can be supplied to the flower buds intensively. During the peak growth period in summer, it is also necessary to remove the weak buds at the ends and upper sides of the abnormal stems and retain the strong buds at the middle and lower sides and the base to cultivate new strong flower branches. The new branches in spring bloom in the second year for small varieties and the third year for large varieties. Therefore, the old branches should be removed gradually and renewed alternately, so as to keep the blooming.
Lingjian lotus is fond of fertilizer. When the buds on both sides of the abnormal stem start to sprout in spring, first pour water once, apply thin fertilizer once, and then pour thin liquid water repeatedly after drying out. After bud emergence, apply 1-2 times of quick acting phosphate fertilizer, such as rotating 1% diammonium phosphate solution and 30% horseshoe slice and bean cake decomposed water, and the milk or beer after the period can also be used; keep the pot soil moist during flowering; after flower, the nutrient consumption is too high. When the abnormal stem is shriveled, it can spray water to the branches and leaves. After the recovery of vitality, apply 1-2 times of slightly thick quick acting nitrogen fertilizer in time, such as 0.5% urea solution. During the growth period of summer, the mature liquid fertilizer is applied once every 20 days, such as 40% organic liquid fertilizer mainly consisting of rotten horseshoe and bean cake water, and the soil is watered and loosened after each application.
The basin of Lingjian lotus should be changed every 1-2 years, usually in spring or autumn. Basin soil should be sandy soil with organic matter. When changing basin, remove part of the old soil and decayed roots, and supplement new culture soil. Generally, 4 parts of decayed leaf soil, 3 parts of garden soil, 2 parts of compost soil and 1 part of sand soil are mixed. The flowers in the basin shall be kept in the shade for maintenance. After one month, they shall be placed in the sun for growth. In summer, they shall be shaded to avoid damage caused by excessive light intensity of leaves. In rainy days, they shall be moved into the room. After the beginning of autumn, the light can be fully seen, otherwise, the light is insufficient and it is not easy to bloom.
