In the past, the main sources of organic fertilizer in the family were cake fertilizer, bone meal, rice bran, all kinds of leftovers and so on, some of which were fermented by decay. Some things slow release of fertility, long fertilizer effect, easy to obtain, not easy to cause root burning; the disadvantage is that the nutrient content is less, there is a bad smell, easy to contaminate the plant leaves. Inorganic fertilizer has ammonium sulfate, urea and so on. People are used to call it fertilizer. It's a little fast in fertilizer effect, easy to be absorbed by plants and high in nutrients. The disadvantage is that improper use is easy to damage plants.
There are different requirements for fertilizer in different growth stages and types of succulents.
Early spring is the transition period from dormancy to rapid growth of succulent plants. Fertilization is beneficial to the growth of succulent plants.
During the high temperature period from July to August, the plant is in a semi dormant state, so fertilization should be suspended.
At the beginning of autumn, the temperature slightly dropped, and the plant began to recover its vitality. Continue to apply fertilizer until the end of autumn, so as to avoid excessive growth of the plant, tender and vulnerable to freezing.
Generally, no fertilizer is applied in winter. Fertilization frequency of succulent plants in the growing season can be applied once every 2-3 weeks, such as chandelier, tianjinzhang, lianhuazhang, etc., most succulent plants are applied once a month; a few species, such as leafflower, are applied once every 4-6 weeks, purslane, thick leaf grass are applied once every 6-8 weeks.
