Magnolia can be grafted by bud grafting, and the grafting time can be from September to October. The rootstock can use Magnolia of the same family or Magnolia saplings to cut the branches with full axillary buds from the mother plant, cut the buds from the branches, and cut the cortex of the same size at the grafting position of the rootstock. The grafted buds are embedded in the position where the cortex of the rootstock is cut off, and then tightly bound with adhesive tape outside. After grafting, care shall be taken to maintain the grafted shoots.

I. time selection

Magnolia can be budding method, this method is the best in September to October every year, the best operation, at this time the temperature is maintained above 20 ℃, the temperature is more appropriate, can be conducive to germination and growth, later recovery is easier.

2. Preparations

Before grafting, the rootstock and scion should be prepared. The rootstock can be either Magnolia of the same family or Magnolia saplings. The diameter of the base is about 1-2cm. Select the Magnolia in good growth condition, cut the branches without diseases and insect pests from the sun, and require the axillary buds on them to be full. Remove all the leaves from the top of the scion, and retain some petioles. From the lower part of the bud eye of the scion, about 0.8 cm away, cut all the way to the xylem, and cut the buds from the upper part. The rootstock part also needs to be treated, and the cortex about the same size is cut off at the grafting position.

3. Start grafting

After the preparatory work, we need to graft immediately, and embed the grafting buds in the position where the rootstock peels off the cortex, and then tightly wrap them with adhesive tape, not too tight and loose.

IV. later maintenance

After binding, it is covered with fresh-keeping film, which can prevent rain and affect survival. After grafting survival, pay attention to good maintenance, wait until the two grow well, you can remove the binding things
