1. Time: Plum grafting should be done in July in summer or by budding in September in autumn. The specific time should be adjusted according to the local climate, so that the survival rate will be higher
2. Rootstock: suitable rootstock should be selected for grafting. Peach, plum or Nanking cherry can be used. Cut at a distance of about 6-10cm from the ground.
3. Scion: choose a strong and strong scion, about 7cm in length, and leave 5-7 buds. After cutting, we should graft as soon as possible, or the water will evaporate.
4. Treatment: before grafting, cut a 3cm long cut on the cross section of the rootstock, and cut the bottom of the scion into 3cm cut, but keep 2-3 buds.
5. Grafting: finally, wrap the top of the scion, insert the scion into the cutting of the rootstock, and align the cambium, then wrap it.
After grafting, we need to see if it has survived. If it fails, we need to graft again.
