Red leaf plum is not suitable for cutting in spring. If we want to propagate by cutting, we should choose autumn. Usually, when it reaches half of the leaves in autumn, it can be cutted at this time. The time is from November to December. Try not to exceed the middle of December at the latest. However, warmer areas can be a little later

2. Cutting method

1. Branch selection: from the mother tree that has been growing for 3-4 years, cut off a section of branch with good growth. There should be full buds on the branches, and there should be no signs of damage and pest damage.

2. Soil: clean sandy loam shall be prepared first, and carbendazim or potassium permanganate shall be used for disinfection before use. After disinfection to add some basic fertilizer, ready to use.

3. Treatment: the lower end of the branch should be cut into a slope, so as to better contact with the soil. Then put it into clean water for a quarter of an hour, and then dip it with appropriate amount of rooting powder, which will be more conducive to its rooting.

4. Cutting: after the branches are treated, carefully insert them into the soil, and there should be a certain distance between the branches. The buds on the top of the branches should be 0.5-1cm above the ground, not all of them should be buried in the soil.
