The cutting time of red maple is spring, and the annual branches are usually used in spring. Cutting can also be carried out in summer, and the shoots of that year are used. However, the temperature in summer will be relatively high, so there are many aspects to be managed after cutting to prevent branches from dying.
1. Branch selection: before cutting, good quality mother trees shall be selected, and the branches with the best growth state and no pests shall be selected from the mother trees. It doesn't need to use too long branches. It's about 8-15cm.
2. Substrate: prepare the substrate for cutting in advance. Under normal circumstances, the soil prepared with river sand and yellow soil is the best, which will be more conducive to the rooting of branches.
3. Treatment: there should be 2-3 leaves at the top of the branch, and the position at the bottom should be cut into oblique cuts. Prepare the prepared rooting solution, and then put the branches in to soak, 6-12 hours later, take them out.
4. Cutting: when cutting, there should be a certain distance between the branches of each cutting. Put the branches into the substrate about half of the depth, use the surrounding soil to press the solid and water it.
