Gladiolus may be infected with many diseases and insect pests. If it is infected with leaf blight, peel off the dry scales outside the bulbs before planting, disinfect and soak the bulbs, and spray them with gunneria or Bordeaux at the early stage of the disease. If infected with corm rot, soak in cold water after harvest and store after sterilization. If slugs are found, they should be sprayed with lime water or ammonia water. If infected with thrips, spray with deltamethrin 400 times.

I. diseases

1. Leaf blight: the disease is very serious from July to September. It starts from the tip of the lower part of the leaf. At the beginning, it is a faded green yellow spot. At the end of the disease, there is a dark brown mold layer. Before planting, peel off the dry scales outside the bulbs, soak the bulbs in potassium permanganate, disinfect and clean them, and spray them with gunneria or Bordeaux at the early stage of the disease.

2. Corm rot: this disease often occurs in storage period. After infected with this disease, the surface of corm appears yellow brown spots, which will sink down, and there are black ulcers around. When the air humidity is high, the disease spots will gradually expand. It mainly focuses on prevention, soaking in cold water after harvest, storing after disinfection, keeping the storage environment ventilated and dry, and maintaining the temperature at about 4-5 ℃.

II. Pest

1. Slug: This is a common pest, mainly if the buds and leaves leave white marks on the leaves. After the pest is found, lime water or ammonia water shall be used for spraying control.

2. Thrips: in the daytime, they will damage the plants in the axils of the leaves. In the cloudy or night, they will damage the leaves. If they are leaves, flowers and stems, they will cause the petals to shrink. Usually pay attention to ventilation, and spray with deltamethrin 400 times solution after discovery.
