It takes two months for carnation to take root after cutting. Before that, it can live without roots, but it can't survive without roots for more than two months. After cutting, we need to put it in a suitable environment, and pay attention to the temperature and humidity at the same time.
1. Selection of cuttings: in order to ensure the survival of cuttings, carnations with robust growth and no pests shall be selected. Cut a 6-9 cm long side branch from the top, keep the top 4-5 leaves, and remove the rest. Cutting the bottom of cuttings into a slope, increasing the area of contact with the soil, is conducive to rooting.
2. Pot soil preparation: to make cuttings take root quickly, it is necessary to provide a good growth environment. The basin soil should be mainly garden soil, and a little rice husk ash should be added at the same time. Rice husk ash can increase the drainage of soil, but also rich in potassium, can provide nutrients for the growth of cuttings.
3. Cutting: cutting can be carried out after the cuttings and pot soil are handled. Insert the cuttings into the soil 2-3cm deep. If you want to cut many branches, the distance between each branch should be about 4cm. After insertion, water it immediately and put it in the shade.
4. Follow up maintenance: since the cuttings of carnations have a long growth cycle, it is necessary to control the temperature and light. The temperature is controlled between 10-20 ℃, and the plastic bag can be used to cover the insulation. At this time, it is not suitable to receive direct light. It can be placed in the half shade to receive scattered light.
