Grafting usually takes place in spring or autumn. Spring starts in late March and can be carried out until mid June. Autumn is only suitable from mid September to mid October. And grafting is more suitable on a sunny morning
Choose the two or three branches and stems that are not too old in the lower section of the Christmas Cactus. Use the sterilized knife to cut the bottom of the base leaves into wedges, so that they can be better inserted into the rootstock, and at the same time, the cut part is also easier to absorb nutrition.
Cactus size should be moderate, diameter should not be less than 5 cm, otherwise it is difficult to support crabmail. Use scissors to cut the upper thorns to avoid hurting the stem of crabmail. Then cut a hole with a sterilized knife at the top, not too wide or too deep, or cut on the edge to avoid deformation of the plant. The knife should be left on the incision and cannot be pulled out immediately.
When you are ready, pull out the knife and quickly insert the stem into the cut of the cactus. Base of a stem to all into the incision, so as to better fit to avoid separation.
After grafting, place the potted plant in a cool place. When watering at ordinary times, pay attention not to spray on the grafted wound. Generally 15 days or so, the two grow together, at this time you can move to the sun. Wait until germination can be normal maintenance.
