There will be some small seedlings at the base of the adult golden button, which can be propagated separately in spring or autumn. Cut off the seedlings at the base, wait for the cut to dry, and then plant them in the culture medium. Do not water the seedlings just planted. Wait for two days, and water them properly. Wait until rooting and then carry out normal maintenance.
In the growing season, cut the full abnormal stem of golden button into 8-10 cm segments, which should not be too short, too short and not easy to root. The cuttage should not be too deep, the cutting medium should not be too wet, and the water capacity should be 60-70%. One month after planting, it can take root and then put into pot. This method is often used in production.
It is better to use columnar cactus as rootstock for golden button cutting, and use upright and thick diamond cactus as rootstock.
Grafting, mostly in May to June, can be used as rootstock, such as vertical column cacti pear cacti, large flower snake whip column. Take 10 cm of the abnormal stem on the top of the golden button as the scion, and it will heal about 50 days later.
Through grafting, it can grow into a good suspension plant shape. Flat and miter joints may be used. The best grafting time is from May to September. The methods are as follows: select the branches of cactus that are not fully lignified, cut them from 2-3cm of branches, and cut them into a conic shape about 1cm long. Insert a young and green golden button base into the cutting point of rootstock without binding.
After grafting, the golden button should be shaded and watered. The humidity is not easy to be too high, otherwise the grafting will fail. After more than ten days, the scion remained fresh green and survived. The grafted plants grow stronger and faster than the cuttings, and can breed 4-5 lateral branches or even more.
