Cuttings can affect its survival. Boxwood can be cutted with old branches, but the survival rate is not very high. It's better to choose strong branches from one year to two years, which have a higher survival rate. The selected branches shall be free from pests and diseases, in good growth condition and vigorous vitality. Cut the branches at about 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and put them in the shade to avoid excessive evaporation.
After cutting the branch, because the wound part of it can take root when callus, so we should remove the branches and leaves below, and then bind the branch and soak it in a container with water.
Sufficient water was applied to the soil before cutting, which was beneficial to the later rooting. Then insert the branches into the soil, about 3-4cm deep, and then cover them with plastic film, which can play a role of heat preservation and moisture preservation. After that, water every 7 days or so, and keep the temperature at about 20-30 ℃.
