Temperature and Humidity: Warm, dry air from heating systems accelerates evaporation from both the soil and the plant's leaves (transpiration). In a cool, humid room, water loss is significantly slower.

Pot Size and Material: A small pot dries out faster than a large one as it holds less soil. A porous terracotta pot allows moisture to evaporate through its walls, while a plastic or glazed ceramic pot retains moisture for longer.

Plant Size and Growth Phase: A large, bushy impatiens in full bloom is pulling tremendous amounts of water from the soil to support its flowers and foliage. A smaller plant or one that is dormant in winter will require less.
