Wax peony leaves are whorled, thick, heart-shaped or oval, with blunt tip at the apex, uneven surface, concave to the middle, raised at the center of both sides, arranged in lotus shape, almost no stem can be seen.

The leaves of Tiya are obovate cuneiform, with a triangular short tip at the apex, protruding at the center of the back of the leaves, and hard burr at the edge. The leaves are easy to grow from the bottom of the stem, forming a multi branched structure.

The leaf color of wax peony is usually green. When the temperature difference between autumn and winter is large, if the light is sufficient, it will turn red and sometimes yellow.
