The leaves are generally oval shaped, but also wide egg shaped. The leaves are slightly wrinkled. The meridians on the leaves are obvious. The petiole is short with a point of upward radian. If you look carefully on the petiole, you will find that it has very short pubescence.
Another difference between them is that they have different kinds of flowers.
There are more than 50 petals in the normal flower of jasmine, the flower bud is flat and round, and the flower is larger, up to more than 3cm, but sometimes it can't be opened completely, the fragrance of jasmine is enough, even if it's far away, it can smell its fragrance.
At the beginning of summer, there are 3 to 9 flowers, usually only 3 to 4 flowers, the Corolla is milky white, also very fragrant. Most of the Baozhu Jasmine varieties have a flowering period of 6 to 10 months, from early summer to late autumn, while some belong to the deciduous type, with a flowering period in winter, from November to march of the next year.
There are also great differences in their cultivation.
It is estimated that there is a genetic defect in the jasmine, which makes it more difficult to serve and propagate by cutting than ordinary jasmine. It can not be cut again, and it may not sprout new branches if it is cut again, and the whole branch will wither seriously.
Baozhu jasmine is extremely long and needs to be pruned frequently, but it must not be cut when the temperature is low. The cut is easy to be invaded by germs. Even if not pruned in winter, the wound should be disinfected in time. Under the same conditions, it is much easier to cultivate Baozhu jasmine. The branches it cut in spring can be used to cultivate new plants, but the branches of tiger head are more difficult to survive.
