By sowing or cutting, the snowball is propagated, but when the seedlings or cuttings grow to a certain extent, they need to be transplanted. What should be paid attention to in the process of transplanting the snowball? Let's have a look.

Preparation of snowball before transplanting

Choose flowerpots with good drainage and air permeability for transplanting.

Basin soil can be selected as follows: vegetable garden soil: slag = 3:1; garden soil: medium coarse river sand: sawdust (Ru slag): 4:1:2; or one of paddy soil, pond mud and rotten leaf soil.

Or peat + perlite + ceramsite = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part; vegetable soil + slag = 3 parts + 1 part; peat + slag + ceramsite = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part; sawdust + vermiculite + medium coarse river sand = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part.

Steps of transplanting snowballs

When the seedlings of snowball are put into the basin, a 2 cm thick coarse-grained substrate or ceramsite is placed at the bottom of the basin as the filter layer, and a layer of fully decomposed organic fertilizer is spread on it as the base fertilizer, with a thickness of about 1-2 cm, and then a layer of substrate is covered, with a thickness of about 1-2 cm.

After the substrate is filled, dig the planting hole first, sprinkle a layer of organic fertilizer at the bottom of the planting hole as the base fertilizer, with a thickness of about 4-6cm, cover the seedlings with a layer of soil and put in the snowball, so as to separate the fertilizer and the root system and avoid burning the root.

After the seedlings are put in, the surrounding soil is filled and covered with root system, then the soil is pressed tightly by hand and watered once to be permeable.

Management of snowball after transplanting

Fragrant snow ball strong, can withstand mild frost, outdoor winter to give protection, like the sun, to be placed in a place that can be exposed to the sun.

Before summer, cut again, put cool place in summer, then bloom more after autumn. Generally, after flowering, the lower part of the inflorescence has become bare, and the inflorescence can be cut off from the stem in combination with seed collection to regenerate new spikes, and the cut part can be slightly dried to shake off the seeds.

Snowball has a long flowering period. It should be fertilized and soaked in water at the right time. Thin liquid fertilizer should be applied every half a month. At the same time, attention should be paid to weeding and pest control.

With the growth of the plant, it is necessary to change the basin for the snowball in time, gradually change it into a large basin, and finally move it into a 15 cm diameter tile basin. Those who live through the winter in the sunny border should be covered with straw curtains to prevent cold in the evening and moved to the flower bed in the warm spring.
