To raise carnation, we should give it soft and fat flower soil with strong air permeability and good water retention, a temperature of about 19-21 ℃, a proper amount of water and sufficient light. In addition, we should pay attention to the occurrence of leaf spot, aphid and spider. If you want to breed, you can use cutting or sowing.

I. breeding environment

1. Soil. Carnations prefer soft and fat flower soil with strong air permeability and good water retention. The best choice for breeding is sandy soil, not too sticky soil.

2. Temperature. Usually, we should give carnations 19-21 ℃ growth conditions, and pay attention to the temperature difference between day and night within 10 ℃. In winter, we should take some measures to keep out the cold. We'd better adjust the temperature to above 9 ℃ and below 35 ℃ in summer.

3. Moisture. Carnations are very afraid of water, watering must not be excessive. At ordinary times, do not water too often. Wait until the flowers and soil are dry before pouring.

4. Sunshine. Carnations like the sun very much. They can accept the whole day's sunshine at ordinary times, but they should be properly shaded in summer. In addition, in its seedling stage and flowering stage also need appropriate shade.

2. Common diseases and insect pests

1. Leaf spot. If the patient stems or leaves appear on the spot, it may be suffering from this disease. This needs us to clear the diseased plant in time, stop watering, and then spray manganese or chlorothalonil for treatment.

2. Aphid, spider, etc. If there are fewer insects on the carnation plant, we can get them down physically, then spray medicine to disinfect and kill the eggs. If there are many insects on the plant, you can remove and destroy the diseased leaves, then spray Omethoate solution for treatment.

3. Grey mould. If the flowers, stems or leaves of carnations are covered with mildew like substances, it may be caused by the disease. This needs us to clear the disease in time, strengthen ventilation and light transmission, and spray chlorothalonil solution for treatment.

3. Breeding methods

1. Cutting. Cut the healthy and disease-free branches of about 10 cm long with bone nodes, insert them into the soil, water them, and put them in the shade for about a week. After it produces roots, it can be put in a sunny place for maintenance

2. Sowing. This method should be used in early spring or early autumn. Adjust the temperature to about 20 ℃, and you can plant the carnation seeds on the prepared soil. Then cover it with a thin layer of soil, pour some water, maintain it slowly, wait for it to germinate
