(1) prefer to wet and avoid waterlogging. Dahlia is afraid of drought and water. This is because dahlia is a kind of fleshy root, which is easy to rot when watered too much. But its leaves are big, growing luxuriantly, and need more water. If the water can not be replenished timely after wilting due to lack of water, the edge of the light leaves will be scorched, and the base leaves will fall off. Therefore, the principle of "dry through pouring" should be mastered.
(2) love fertility and fear excess. It is advisable to choose fertile and loose soil for planting dahlia. Besides the base fertilizer, top dressing is also required. Generally, from the middle and late of July until flowering, thin liquid fertilizer is applied every 7-10 days, and the concentration of fertilizer should be increased gradually, so that the longer and stronger the stem, the stronger and stronger the leaf color is dark green and stretched.
(3) prefer sunshine to shade. Dahlia likes sunshine. If it is placed in the shade for a long time, it will not grow well, the root system will be weak, the leaves will be thin and the stems will be thin, the flowers will be small and light, and it will not even blossom. Only when it is planted in the sunny place can it make the plant grow healthily and produce bright flowers.
(4) like being cool and afraid of being hot. Dahlia likes a cool climate at the flowering stage. The temperature is about 20 ℃, and the growth is the best. North China and other places can grow well from late spring to late autumn. But it is afraid of direct sunshine in hot summer, especially the sunshine after rain. At this time, it should be slightly shaded to grow better.
