The characteristics of orchids are mainly shown in three aspects. The first aspect is its flower components; the second aspect is that it will produce long scape; the third aspect is that each flower will be covered with a coat, namely bracts. In addition, its maintenance only needs to give it proper soil, water and fertilizer, and then it can be cured.

What are the characteristics of orchids?

1. It belongs to an epiphyte, whose flower is mainly composed of calyx and petal. The outer one is the calyx, the inner one is the petal, generally only 3 pieces, one of which becomes the lip. In addition, pistil and stamen grow on the same pistil.

2. The base of pseudobulb of plant will produce scape, sometimes one or more. Flowers grow on scape in order and are usually higher in height than leaves. The inflorescences of semi epiphytic orchids are inclined and curved, while the inflorescences of epiphytic orchids are drooping.

3. There will be a bract at the bottom of each flower's pedicel where it connects with the flower axis, tightly surrounding the ovary of the flower. Usually, the bracts of the ground orchid are longer, which can reach about half of the ovary length. The bracts of epiphytic orchids are very short, generally one third of the ovary.

4. After fertilization, the ovary will gradually expand and develop into fruit, and the skin color of fruit will change from yellow green to brown. After its fruit ripens, it will split longitudinally, revealing the seeds.

II. Maintenance features

1. Soil: it is better to use humus - based soil for cultivation.

2. Watering: generally, water every three days in spring and autumn, and once a day in summer. The best water is rain, snow and well water.

3. Fertilization: just before planting, you need to add some basic fertilizer at the bottom of the pot to meet the growth needs of the plant.
