When potting, humic acid soil should be used instead of alkaline soil. Podocarpus arvensis likes to loose and fertile soil with good drainage, and is not resistant to salt, alkali and barren.
Watering: Podocarpus is more resistant to drought, so watering in growing season should grasp the principle of prefer dry to wet, and keep basin soil wet. If too much water is applied, the basin soil will be waterlogged for a long time, which will lead to rotten roots and yellow leaves. In serious cases, the leaves will fall off and the plants will die. In summer, the water evaporates quickly in high temperature season, and the watering should be sufficient. If the basin soil is too dry and scorched, it will also affect the viewing.
Fertilization: potted Podocarpus, also need to supplement nutrients. Luohansong doesn't like concentrated fertilizer. In the growing season, it can use the organic liquid fertilizer with the concentration of 1:6, 1:8 and 1:10. It is applied once every 10 days and a half months. The next day after fertilization, it needs to be irrigated with water, which is conducive to root absorption.
Temperature: luohansong likes to be warm and has weak cold resistance. When the temperature drops to 13 ℃ in winter, it will enter the dormancy state, and the minimum temperature should not be lower than 10 ℃.
Light: Podocarpus, can withstand shade, but it is not suitable to be indoors for a long time in the growing season. Because the indoor light and air humidity are not as good as the outdoor, the growth and development of luohansong also need sunshine and rain.
Seed propagation: it can be carried out in August. Generally in the open seedbed. Sowing as you pick. Cover the straw, pay attention to shade and keep the substrate moist. In winter, cover with plastic film to prevent freezing.
Cuttage Propagation: it can be carried out in spring and autumn. In the middle of March, 1-year-old thick dormant branches were selected as cuttings, while in July August, semi lignified green branches were selected as cuttings. The ears should be heeled and shaded. The best transplantation was in March.
During the growing period, pruning and coring should be done to the formed plants to prevent the branches and leaves from growing excessively, and to keep the graceful posture of Podocarpus. When changing pots, we should pay attention to cutting off too many roots and rotten fibrous roots, and at the same time cutting off too many dense branches and too long branches.
When the outdoor temperature drops to 5 ℃ in winter, it should be moved indoors. After entering the room, control watering and stop fertilization.
Potted luohansong, usually placed on a high platform or on a stone Deng, so as to reduce ants and earthworms and other insects from the bottom hole of the flower pot to drill into the flower pot, endangering the plants.
